You can see how much I love that adorable magic star wand from the stamp set. I'm going to use it over and over, on cards, layouts and other projects! It's so cute but still versatile (and perfect for Valentine's Day projects).
I also added a few things from the wonderful Up in the Clouds collection: puffies, alpha, rubons and enamel shapes. The kit craft die cuts were cut from the gorgeous 12x12 collection papers.
Most of the sayings and symbols on the page relate to different stories about my black 'paper pile cat', who we had to say goodbye to, on the day before Christmas Eve, as her kidneys were finally failing her completely. So this was such a perfect kit to use for a memorial layout of her, because I still miss her so much.
I fell in love with the stencils in the kit and decided to use them on cards. I experimented with different kinds of colors, pens and paints. On the rose cards above, I used dry water color pencils on the card to the left, and wet water colors on the card to the right.
For the cards below, I used the pretty and intricate heart stencil. As you can see, it can be used from either side. For the two top cards, I used dry watercolor pencils on the left one, and then softened some of the strokes with a wet brush. On the card to the right, I used sketch pencils in neutral colors.
For the two cards at the bottom, I used regular water colors on one, and Neocolor crayons on the other, where I also went over the crayon marks with a wet brush.
Here's a tip when you use intricate stencils with water colors. If you just bring on the wet paint over the stencil, a lot of intricate details will likely be lost, unless you stick the stencil down with some non-permanent glue. Because I used watercolor paper, it wasn't possible to use any sticky material on the paper, it would have ruined the soft surface. So, I used the stencil to trace the lines with a regular pencil and then I painted the picture with the water colors. You can see the difference below. The pencil lines makes the pattern look like it is hand drawn!
I will keep and love this January kit forever. The stamp, craft die and stencils can be used a thousand of times, and those items alone make this totally gorgeous kit a bargain. If you missed this wonderful kit, I strongly recommend that you go and get it now while it's still in the shop. You will kick yourself if you miss out! :)
